This is incredibly helpful. Excellent reporting. Keep digging, Natosha. Understanding what happened in Wuhan in October and November 2019 is critical to understanding the outbreak and entire pandemic. 15 million people are dead from this totally avoidable and unnecessary pandemic. Everyone and future generations will be at far greater risk if we don’t do everything possible to understand what went wrong and fix our biggest shortcomings.

Hi Natasha -- here is another report of an early case that's fairly significant -- https://finance.sina.cn/2020-01-28/detail-iihnzahk6649439.d.html

Translated first-hand account of Zhou Ning regarding the patient he was exposed to who he thinks was likely responsible for his SARS-CoV-2 infection:

On the morning of January 21, while completing discharge procedures, he suddenly told our nurse that he had had a fever before being admitted and had visited the Huanan Seafood Market in early December. Even more critically, he was a chef who often handled live poultry and wild animals sourced from the Huanan Seafood Market.

The atmosphere immediately became tense. At that time, the pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan was already quite serious, and his belated “honesty” instantly put us on high alert.

Upon further questioning about his medical history, he finally admitted that he last went to the Huanan Seafood Market on December 3, but continued to come into contact with live animals from the market afterward. He developed a fever in early December, recovered and was discharged on December 30 after treatment, though he still had intermittent coughing. On January 17, he was admitted to our department due to palpitations and dizziness.
